COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Iron Range fire crews are upgrading hoses to high-efficiency nozzles — known as HEN — to conserve water and fight fires across rural communities. The Cotton Volunteer Fire Department recently demonstrated the tool’s advantages for structure and wildland fires.  WDIO

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • St. Louis County set up an Opioid Remediation Settlement Committee to manage $21 million from opioid settlements over 18 years. The county has received about $6.5 million so far, with $1.5 million allocated to treatment + prevention services and will work with local schools to lower substance misuse.  WDIO

  • Aspirus St. Luke’s Critical Care Unit Manager Brittney Kurhajetz received the Patriot Award from Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve (ESGR) after Nurse Omayo Ogunnow nominated her for helping staff balance military and civilian duties; the award was presented by Frank Godec from Hibbing.  BusinessNorth
