- ➤ Nearly 200 residents attended a training on Jan. 13 to learn their rights when filming law enforcement interactions—Duluth hosted its first session outside the Twin Cities, and more trainings will be held across Minnesota. WDIO
- ➤ The Boys & Girls Clubs of the Northland held its Youth of the Year contest on Tuesday, Jan. 13 at Clyde Ironworks, where judges chose Nevaeh Carlson for her second win; she will next compete at the state level for a chance to reach nationals. WDIO
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ The Minnesota Department of Employment and Economic Development announced $17.3 million in Pathways to Prosperity grants to support job training for over 3,500 workers; among the 59 recipients is Duluth Workforce Development, receiving $350,000 and $290,000 to boost local career opportunities. - ➤ The Minnesota Department of Human Services has appealed a decision to withhold over $2 billion in Medicaid funding, saying the measure could harm 1.2 million Medicaid members if a federal hearing date is not soon set. WDIO
