The University of Minnesota Duluth hosted its annual Spring Volunteer Fair at Kirby Ballroom from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., where over 40 local organizations showcased volunteer programs open to everyone.

Volunteers in Action Service Project led a Red Cross letter-writing activity for veterans in State Veteran Homes.

The Minnesota Department of Employment and Economic Development awarded more than $6 million in grants to 13 communities on Tuesday, including $2,134,320 for Duluth’s 12-acre site contaminated with petroleum; the project will add two five-story apartment buildings with 509 units, a pad-ready hotel site, and 12 jobs.
