ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Duluth city council approved a settlement on Feb. 23 after a 2024 water release killed over 2,000 fish in Tischer Creek—funds will support environmental education and restoration projects to help revive local fishing.  WDIO

  • MnDOT announced the winners of its Name a Snowplow contest, picking eight names including Oh, For Sleet’s Sake and Flurrious George chosen by nearly 19,000 voters. Officials say the new names will soon join the department’s fleet and remind drivers to give plows space to work safely.  WDIO

HEALTH NEWS

  • A new CDC report shows fewer women are receiving prenatal care in the first trimester, including one in seven in Minnesota—experts say early care is key to healthy pregnancies.
