  • The Lake Superior YMCA held its 5th annual Chuck-A-Puck fundraiser at Essentia Wellness Center in Hermantown with hockey pucks available since Feb. 16—supporters from across the region helping aim for a $13,000 goal to fund memberships and food access programs for local residents in need. Executive director Emily Ranta said all funds raised will go directly back into the community.  WDIO

ECONOMY NEWS

  • Gas prices in Minnesota rose this week after a 9.3-cent jump raised the state average to $2.80 per gallon, and seasonal demand along with global market risks are expected to push national averages higher — according to GasBuddy.  WDIO

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • A Minnesota National Guard public affairs officer confirmed no guards members were injured during weekend operations in Iran. The report stated that over 250 personnel, including those from Duluth's 148th Fighter Wing, served in the U.S. Central Command.  WDIO
  • Duluth officials launched a comprehensive land use study for the 270 acre former Lester Park Golf Course. Residents shared ideas during Monday night’s open house and can continue offering feedback online as plans are refined for housing and recreation.  WDIO
  • Postal inspectors are alerting Duluth residents during National Consumer Protection Week (NCPW) to watch for scams using artificial intelligence and other tricks. They advise checking for red flags such as fake social media profiles and unusual payment requests to protect personal funds.  BusinessNorth

HEALTH NEWS

  • Essentia Health-Duluth announced today that recreational therapists will shift to behavioral health technician roles to support consistent patient care at St. Mary’s Medical Center. Eight therapists are affected by the change, which does not involve layoffs or pay cuts, though some staff have chosen to leave.  WDIO
