The Hermantown Area Chamber of Commerce will hold its annual State of the Cities Luncheon (12 p.m. to 1 p.m., doors open at 11:30 a.m.) on Thursday, Mar.
12 at Black Woods Event Center in Proctor to discuss regional growth and development with mayors of Hermantown, Rice Lake and Proctor speaking. Registration is required as seating is limited.
Lake Superior Zoo euthanized Jeeps, a 25-year-old kinkajou, on Monday after an age-related decline.
She delighted visitors with her playful nature and is survived by exhibit mate Georgie the sloth (necropsy findings will be shared to help improve care for her species).

Duluth's iconic A & Dubs drive-in will reopen after two summers, with new owners Mike Koralia and Ryan Spears to soon announce the opening date at its Lincoln Park location, 3131 W.
Third St. The restaurant has served classic car service and homemade root beer since 1948.
🎭 Culture
Dubh Linn Pub in Duluth will celebrate its 20th anniversary with family friendly St. Patrick’s events; Saturday, Mar.
14 features a handmade menu — live Bagpipe and Drum Band, green beer, and prizes — and Tuesday, Mar. 17 offers live Irish music, a special menu, and green beads.
🎓 Education
Duluth East High School students will travel to St. Paul on March 12 to compete in the ProStart Invitational culinary competition, where they will prepare a three-course meal in one hour (using butane burners only).
Culinary Arts Instructor Adam Wisocki said the contest builds vital skills for future national events.
🏛️ Government
The Coast Guard began spring ice breaking work Monday in Duluth Harbor and along the St. Marys River to prepare for the Great Lakes commercial shipping season.
Operations will expand later in the week while recreational users are urged to avoid marked areas due to hazardous conditions.

Aspirus Health announced the promotion of Rachel Gischia to clinic manager at the Lake View Two Harbors and Lake View Silver Bay Clinics.
She has worked with Aspirus since 2002 and previously led community outreach and emergency preparedness, and she looks forward to enhancing patient care + strengthening operations.
