- ➤ In 2020, the old Von's Drive-In lot in Eveleth was turned into a drive-in church where community members listened to sermons from their cars & stayed connected during COVID-19 restrictions. WDIO
- ➤ The Denfeld All Night Grad Party committee is collecting donations for the 2026 seniors party by partnering with Pizza Ranch at Miller Hill Mall; additional events on April 8, May 6 and a craft silent auction on April 25 will help reach the $22,000 goal for 260 graduates. WDIO
ACCIDENTS NEWS
- ➤ On June 30, 1992 (a day that tested community strength), a Burlington Northern freight train derailed in Superior where a benzene spill forced 80,000 people to evacuate from Superior and Duluth, and cleanup teams then worked to contain the toxic cloud. WDIO
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ MDHR reached a settlement with Lyft after a blind college student’s service dog led to repeated ride cancellations from 2021 to 2023. The rideshare company agreed to update its policies and driver training + MDHR will monitor compliance for three years. KSTP

- ➤ Aspirus Health will open a new primary care clinic in Cloquet this summer to serve local residents. BusinessNorth
- ➤ A structure fire has delayed the planned grand opening of Palisade Direct Primary Care — its building sustained smoke damage — so Dr. Jay Allen will temporarily see patients at Lakewalk Surgery Center while repairs and insurance claims are assessed.
