- ➤ Cleveland-Cliffs idled its Minorca Mine near Virginia on March 20 and reduced iron ore pellet production at its Hibbing Taconite plant near Hibbing. Officials said the production cut—responsible for about 55 percent of the port tonnage—will lower shipments from the Port of Duluth-Superior and lead to layoffs of about 630 workers—workforce effects are still being studied.
