ECONOMY NEWS
- ➤ DEDA received a $250,000 grant from the Minnesota Department of Employment and Economic Development on March 31 to build a 61,000-square-foot research and training center on an 8.81-acre site on Atlas Parkway that will include classrooms, transportation, warehousing, and a childcare center. The center is expected to retain or create 109 jobs, boost the local tax base, and trigger $23.4 million in private investment with a groundbreaking planned later this year. WDIO

- ➤ The Metropolitan Mosquito Control District expects cattail mosquitoes to rise in number mid-summer due to recent heavy rains following three dry years—these insects normally hatch in the fall and emerge by early July. KSTP
