ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ Duluth residents began spring cleaning at Resource Renew’s Yard Waste Compost Site, which opened on April 15 on Courtland Street near Interstate 35. The site (marking 25 years of composting) accepts free leaves and grass clippings, charges $10 for brush and logs, and operates Wednesday to Saturday. WDIO

- ➤ Duluth roads have more potholes this spring after heavy plowing in a rough winter and freeze-thaw cycles cause cracks. Street Maintenance Coordinator Geoff Vukelich said crews are using temporary cold-mix asphalt until permanent hot mix repairs begin in May. WDIO
- ➤ Attorney General Keith Ellison is asking for local input on Sutter Health’s proposed acquisition of Allina Health via an online-comment form; the review will gauge the deal’s impact on care and if approved, Allina will join Sutter as its Upper Midwest Division while keeping its name and headquarters.
