  • The first saltie of the 2025-2026 maritime year arrived in Duluth Monday morning as the bulk carrier Federal Nagara, loaded with sugar beet processing equipment from Bremer, Germany, ended winter ice restrictions on the lakes. Twin Ports officials presented gifts to Captain R.C. Sanjeewa + Kristi Osheim won a contest for predicting the vessel's arrival time within 38 seconds.  BusinessNorth
  • Downtown Duluth is hosting Get Downtown week from April 21 to 26 to spotlight local restaurants, bars, and shops with deals such as discounts, BOGOs, and gift card giveaways—over three dozen businesses are participating.  WDIO

CRIME NEWS

  • Duluth police are searching for 61-year-old Sherri Lee Monroe—described as a Native American woman who is 5’2” tall and weighs 100 lbs—last seen around Rices Point at 10:30 p.m. on Saturday, April 19, and they ask anyone with information to call 911 using reference ICR#25055969.  WDIO
  • Chisholm Police said after a search warrant on April 15 at a Buhl property used for training working dogs they found that the dogs had proper food, water and shelter and that the legal threshold for animal cruelty charges was not met, and they will continue to monitor the site to ensure both animal welfare and public safety.  WDIO
