- ➤ Duluth’s Canal Park Brewing Company won a silver medal at the 2026 World Beer Cup on April 22 in Philadelphia for its Night Trekker Baltic Porter, noted for hints of coffee, dark fruits and caramel. The beer previously won a gold medal at the Minnesota Brewers Cup in 2025. Perfect Duluth Day

- ➤ On April 22, tugboat Meredith Ashton and a 240-ft deck barge brought project cargo to the rebuilt Berth 10 at the Clure Terminal Expansion pier—the first vessel in decades—and the $10.5 million project completed in March 2025 upgraded the port’s cargo handling as part of a major multimodal hub. - ➤ High school students from the region competed in a welding event at Lake Superior College on Thursday—where they learned new techniques and previewed the college’s one-year welding certificate program; organizers said the contest gave practical experience for future industry work. WDIO

- ➤ MnDOT is closing the right lane of the southbound I-35 onramp from Hwy 194/Mesaba Ave for pavement repairs while leaving the left lane open to keep traffic moving, and no timeline has been provided. WDIO
