  • Mumford, a 10-year-old lion at Como Zoo and Conservatory, was euthanized Friday after an untreatable tumor in his nasal sinuses led to hospice care.  KSTP

  • Mortgage rates nationally dropped to 6.23% after three weeks while Duluth’s rates remained steady, said Bell Bank, citing a shortage of housing options. Realtor Scott Buckingham advises first-time homebuyers to check federal down payment programs (and contact three lenders) before purchasing a home.  WDIO

  • Erin Nordstrom, a longtime 5th and 6th grade teacher at Moose Lake Community School, is honored as the April Outstanding Teacher of the Northland for her 21 years of dedication and kindness—an approach inspired by her late son.  WDIO

  • A third egg was laid in the falcons' nest shown on FalconCam and incubation began today. The birds will swap shifts so the chicks may hatch in late May — a promising start for local wildlife.  KSTP

  • The Minnesota Vikings selected defensive lineman Caleb Banks from Florida — managing recovery from a foot injury — with the 18th pick and acquired Cincinnati linebacker Jake Golday with the 51st pick in the ongoing 2026 NFL Draft to boost roster depth for next season.  KSTP
