- ➤ A canoe overturned near Island Lake Dam on May 9, leaving a 61-year-old (woman) and a 63-year-old (man) in turbulent water; anglers rescued the woman while first responders treated the man for nonlife-threatening injuries. WDIO
CULTURE NEWS
- ➤ The Italian American Club of Duluth prepared 3,630 meatballs on Saturday for its Annual Spaghetti Dinner fundraiser to support kids' scholarships. The dinner will be held on Wed, May 13 at American Legion Post #71 from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. for $10 for adults & $5 for children. WDIO

- ➤ Nearly 2,000 Bulldogs walked at UMD's Spring commencement at AMSOIL Arena on May 9, marking the end of one chapter and the start of another. Graduates shared plans for new careers and further study + robotics research. WDIO
