  • Over 200 nonprofits gathered for the Nonprofits Unite Summit (hosted by the Boreal Waters Community Foundation) to focus on funding uncertainty and workforce strain.   • Duluth hospitality businesses are facing rising expenses and are adapting with increased Q1 performance as hotel occupancy, rooms sold and revenue rose over 2025 levels.   • An exhibit celebrating the 50th running of Grandma’s Marathon opened yesterday at the St. Louis County Depot (showing nearly 50 years of marathon history) and is free during regular business hours.  WDIO

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • The Nature Conservancy began planting thousands of seedlings on Monday, May 11 in areas damaged by last year's wildfires. It plans to add 264,000 trees to the Camphouse and Jenkins Creek burn areas to help restore local habitats.  WDIO

  • Consumer Reports advises drivers to shop through independent agents, raise deductibles, bundle policies + review collision and comprehensive coverage for older cars to cut costs as premiums near $2,700 annually.
