COMMUNITY NEWS

  • A burst water pipe last week paused PAVSA's art program in the Building for Women until Northern Bedrock Historic Preservation Corps stepped in — repairs are slated for Tuesday. PAVSA is one of three nonprofits in the 125-year-old building that rely on community support.  WDIO

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Stella Maris Academy celebrated its first high school graduation on May 27 in Duluth as the class of 12 — described as trailblazers — earned praise for their close bonds from President Andrew Hilliker.  WDIO

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • After nearly a decade of cleanup and over half a billion dollars invested by state + federal and private partners, the latest soil remediation at Thomson Reservoir in Carlton removed 225,000 cubic yards of contaminated sediment. Officials say the final mud lake restoration will follow as water quality continues to be monitored.  WDIO

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • City officials hosted a second open house Wednesday evening at the former Lester Park Golf Course to review survey findings and gather community input on housing, recreation, and preservation options (residents favor keeping outdoor space). A public survey, interactive map, and meeting in July will guide next steps.  WDIO
