U.S. Congressman Pete Stauber said Nippon Steel Corp. will invest $800 million in U.S. Steel’s Minnesota iron ore operations under a new partnership that is expected to boost the local steel industry and create jobs.

The deal will bring $14 billion into the economy and is the largest investment in the taconite facilities (Minntac Mine and Keetac) ever.

Cloquet police are asking the public for help finding Daniel Latterell, 64, and Jane Korpela, 63, who have been missing since Sunday near 1600 Cloquet Avenue and are believed to be in a 2010 gray Ford Escape with Minnesota license plate JEP512—officials are concerned for their mental health and safety.
