Duluth Parks and Recreation has begun improvement projects at Hawk Ridge Nature Reserve and Hillside Sport Court Park.

The Hawk Ridge project will add an accessible trail loop before fall migration, while Hillside’s upgrades including a pavilion and sport court renewal will continue through October with some area closures.

Sun Country Airlines will resume nonstop flights from Duluth to Fort Myers starting Jan.

29 through Apr. 12. The winter season service will run twice weekly (with extra flights on Thursdays and Sundays) to meet local travel demand.

ImOn Communications has started building a $100 million fiber Internet network west of the University of Minnesota Duluth to connect over 50,000 addresses by fall; initial installations are slated for mid-to-late July (residents will be notified before work begins).

The 43rd annual Music in the Parks series will take place in Lincoln Park every Tuesday during summer from 6:30 to 8 p.m. beginning June 16 with free—family-friendly concerts featuring 11 acts including Palisade and The Shane Nelson Band.

On Wednesday, the American Revolution Experience Traveling Exhibit opened at the Richard I.

Bong Veterans Historical Center in Superior and will run until June 18. It features display panels and interactive digital kiosks that help visitors connect with key historic figures.

Volunteer Bill Gedde (retired art teacher) restored a chipped painting of Richard Bong’s plane at the Bong Veterans Historical Center in Superior after noticing damage during volunteer work.

He spent two hours matching colors and gluing loose pieces so the artwork can be reinstalled for visitors.
