The Clean and Safe Team hung 155 flower baskets on decorative light poles in downtown and Canal Park this morning, adding color ahead of Grandma's Marathon (volunteers planted blooms in over 60 planters earlier this month).

Duluth hosted the Law Enforcement Torch Run this weekend for Special Olympics USA as officers carried the Flame of Hope in support of athletes with intellectual disabilities; the annual fundraiser & coast-to-coast event will continue on June 20 in Minnesota.

Volunteers from Alexandria came to Duluth to prepare thousands of pounds of rhubarb for the 21st annual Rhubarb Festival at Asbury United Methodist Church from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on June 27 & are collecting donations until June 25 to help cover Chum’s operating costs.

Proctor alumni Tim and Sandy Oliver will run Grandma's Marathon half this July to celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary; the couple, ages 71 and 72, keeps a long family running tradition alive with kids, grandkids + a display of finisher medals at their Two Harbors cabin.
