On July 5, 25 volunteers cleaned up Park Point beach after 4th of July events, picking up plastics, firework debris, and cigarette butts to help keep Lake Superior clear for everyone.
For the 17th year, the Open Your Heart to the Hungry and Homeless Summer Challenge works to help every Minnesotan avoid hunger and homelessness, with Crystal Schneider, executive director of Friends in Need Food Shelf, explaining yesterday how locals can get involved (full interview available).
Seventeen cyclists stopped in Duluth as part of a 4,000-mile ride for The Fuller Center for Housing (which began May 28) to raise awareness and funds for affordable housing; they will continue south to Ashland and then tour Michigan, Ohio, Pennsylvania, and New York before finishing in Portland on Aug. 8.
