- ➤ The Park Point 5-Miler and 2-Mile Walk for the Young Athletes Foundation will take place on July 17 on Park Point with entries still open and a 6:30 p.m. start, and traffic will be affected on Minnesota Avenue between 23rd Street and nearby parking areas from 6 p.m. to about 9 p.m.—drivers entering Park Point will be stopped at 23rd Street. - ➤ Tuesday morning, authorities with the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension responded to a use-of-force incident in Normanna Township near the intersection of McQuade Road and E. Pioneer Road—crews from the St. Louis County Sheriff’s Office, Normanna Fire-EMS, and Rice Lake Fire Department arrived as roads were blocked. WDIO

- ➤ Congressman Stauber and Senator Klobuchar said that Duluth’s Federal Prison Camp will remain open after BOP Director Marshall visited the facility last week—this decision keeps about 90 federal employees in their jobs after a planned shutdown was announced in December. WDIO
HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ APPs, clinic workers and nurses on strike said they demanded fair contracts and safe float arrangements as they pressed Essentia Health for talks, and they updated that negotiations have stalled. Essentia Health said that no bargaining will take place during its legal review—scheduled bargaining dates will remain as planned. WDIO
- ➤ Thousands of nurses at hospitals in the Twin Cities and Duluth voted on July 14th to ratify new contracts after months of talks to improve staffing, patient care, retention and workplace conditions. The agreements include measures against workplace violence and raise increases for nurses in both the Twin Cities and Twin Ports systems. WDIO
