🏘️ Community
The 2nd annual Duluth Disability Pride Fest celebrated inclusivity outside city hall with community members, advocates and organizers promoting progress and urging improved access.
A follow-up event to honor the ADA is planned for Aug. 7 at Superior High School (11 a.m. to 3 p.m.).
🎓 Education
The Lakeview Christian Academy Board announced that the school will end operations and not reopen for the 2026-2027 school year.
The building (located at 155 W Central Entrance) is now for sale with an asking price of $1,100,000.
🌲 Environment
Effective Wednesday, the Minnesota DNR reduced burning restrictions in Cook, Lake, and Northern St. Louis (from Class IV to Class III) while lifting limits in Koochiching, George Washington State Forest, and Scenic State Park; campfires are allowed only in approved rings and officials will keep a close watch on wildfire risk.
Nine months after its first controlled burn, a 22-acre forest at Wisconsin Point shows clear differences between burned and unburned areas — with thriving wild blueberries and early red pine growth.
Officials plan additional burns to reduce wildfire risks and revive traditional Ojibwe land management practices.

On Wednesday, Hermantown Police Department announced that K-9 Kylo received a ballistic vest donated by Brady’s K9 Fund.
The canine, trained by Officer Lucas Hedin (who began training in August 2025), is now better equipped.
🏥 Health
On Wednesday, Brody Carlson delivered over 60 care packages for those newly diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes to Essentia Health in Duluth.
The teen launched his Bags of Hope for Type 1 Kids project as his senior project to support others adjusting to the condition.
