- ➤ William Marhoun was convicted in 1982 for the 1981 murder of Minerva Jones when her body was found near Duluth—top homicide investigators later said he was innocent, but his appeals were denied so he spent nearly 18 years in prison, was paroled on Dec. 10, 1999 and died in 2009.
