EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ On July 22, the League of Women Voters of Duluth hosted a candidate forum for the ISD 709 School Board At-large at the Duluth Public Access Community Television Studio. The candidates (Kelly Durick Eder, Jane Hoffman, Loren Martell, Amber Sadowski, and Harry Welty) answered questions while Pat Castellano moderated the event. Perfect Duluth Day
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ The Minnesota DNR announced that deer hunting licenses went on sale last Friday and that the B-season license was eliminated so the statewide license is valid during both the statewide firearms A season and the late southeast B season. Hunters who buy a license by Sept. 4 will be entered in the antlerless permit lottery and self-service stations for CWD testing will be available from Nov. 8 to Nov. 10. KSTP
- ➤ On Aug. 12, Duluth voters will choose candidates for city council and school board seats and vote on a school district referendum question, while residents in Endion, Congdon, Chester Park and Kenwood will also vote for a Second District City Council candidate — forming a packed primary ballot. The general election on Nov. 4 will add races for a Fourth District City Council seat and two school board positions. Perfect Duluth Day
