Duluth City Council will vote tonight on Deb DeLuca—selected on Tuesday—to fill District 2 after Mike Mayou moved outside the district; the temporary appointment will last until the November election.

Fairview Range Medical Center is now a Level IV trauma hospital after it passed an outside review of its resources for trauma care—staff completed a voluntary process to join Minnesota’s trauma system and will now work on continuous performance improvement to keep care strong.

Families preparing for the new school year in Duluth can sign up for Medicaid or CHIP to get free or low cost health care, which covers checkups, emergencies, and dental care—this coverage is available for children up to 19 and is renewable annually if income guidelines are met.

Enrollments remain open all year so families can apply in time for school requirements.
