Lake Superior Zoo in Duluth will hold its first Mayor of the Zoo election to encourage young voters.
Ballots can be cast free online or in person at the zoo’s main entrance from August 21 to Sept. 15 and the top two candidates will advance to a general election starting Sept. 21.
On Friday, Head of the Lakes United Way stopped at Benna Ford in Superior to collect donations from the Stuff the Bus supply drive — the items will support students in the Superior School District throughout the school year.

The Bayfront Blues Festival is taking place on Superior’s shores through Sunday, featuring headlining shows with Southern Hospitality Friday at 8:45 p.m., The Fabulous Thunderbirds performing today at 8:45 p.m., and Curley Taylor headlining Sunday at 7 p.m. One-day gate tickets cost $77 (ticket price).
