  • Noah Hobbs has been named Interim Executive Director at the Lake Superior Zoo to oversee daily operations and strengthen community partnerships while the board searches for a permanent leader—he brings over ten years of board experience and a deep commitment to nature education.  WDIO

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The Duluth City Council certified the primary election results on August 15—four candidates advanced for the City Council At-Large seats and two for District 2. The general election is set for November 4.  WDIO
  • A roundtable at AICHO in Duluth gathered housing advocates and community members to discuss proposed federal cuts to housing programs for 2026. Speakers such as Nancy Cashman and Shylah Johnson warned that even a small funding reduction could worsen challenges for over 900 unhoused families — lawmakers will review these proposals after Labor Day.  WDIO
