ECONOMY NEWS

  • Pulsar Helium Inc. announced it will begin drilling up to 10 new wells at its Topaz project near Babbitt in late September to better understand its helium reservoir. The company signed a contract with Timberline Drilling and aims to develop Minnesota’s first commercial helium operation — however, state guidelines on gas extraction remain pending.  BusinessNorth

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • A federal judge dismissed a lawsuit that argued Minnesota’s PFAS ban—prohibiting forever chemicals in cookware, carpets, and cosmetics—discriminated against out-of-state manufacturers. The ruling upholds the law that took effect in January and applies equally to all makers.  KSTP

HEALTH NEWS

  • The Minnesota Department of Health confirmed 20 West Nile virus cases with 2 deaths reported this year and urged residents to take precautions—such as using EPA-registered insect repellents and wearing long sleeves—to reduce mosquito bites. Officials cautioned that high-risk groups like the elderly and immunocompromised should be extra careful as mosquito activity increases from July to September.  KSTP
