🎓 Education
Dr. Brett Spigarelli has been named the new Endowed Taconite Chair at the University of Minnesota’s Natural Resources Research Institute, replacing retired Rod Johnson.
He will lead a research program aimed at boosting Minnesota’s iron ore industry—building partnerships with government, industry and academia to drive innovation.

The Two Harbors Chamber of Commerce has scheduled two meetings to get input on the Highway 61 redesign.
A listening session for business owners is set for Sept. 3 from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m.—and a review session with state and local leaders will follow on Sept. 23 at 9 a.m. to address community concerns.
🏥 Health
The Minnesota Board of Animal Health confirmed that horses have tested positive for West Nile Virus—five have died and cases were first reported in Kittson on July 28 with additional cases in Fillmore, Lincoln, Wadena, Mille Lacs, and Wabasha counties.
The board urges horse owners to vaccinate their animals to help prevent the spread of the virus.
