  • John U. Bacon's new book 'The Gales of November' tells the untold story of the Edmund Fitzgerald crew — sharing their daily lives and the hard choices they faced — and explains the ship's troubled past. GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Ramp connections for Highway 53—Interstate 35—Interstate 535 will open soon following a Monday ribbon-cutting that marked a major milestone for the nearly complete Twin Ports Interchange. The $435 million project replaced aging roads and will soon improve safety and freight movement for over 80,000 vehicles a day in Duluth while cleanup and beautification are planned for next summer.  Superior Telegram
  • A five-year plan to revitalize downtown Duluth—after more than a year of study—was released Tuesday and Mayor Roger Reinert called it a roadmap for the city's next chapter. The plan will activate spaces, convert buildings into housing, and improve signage—though funding and safety details remain unclear—local officials said.  BusinessNorth

HEALTH NEWS

  • Medicare Advantage open enrollment starts next week, and more than 158,000 seniors will compare new coverage options. KSTP health expert Dr. Archelle Georgiou explains that UCare will stop offering plans while Humana, UnitedHealthcare and HealthPartners will change their coverage in some counties—prompting new choices for 2026.  KSTP
