- ➤ Essentia Duluth Heritage Center held a ribbon cutting ceremony for the new Nygaard/Forbort Fitness Center, which will open tomorrow with state-of-the-art gym equipment for athletes ages 12-18 and later for the community; former UM Duluth Athletic Director Bob Nygaard praised the facility’s design — including support from the Nygaard family, Duluth Chamber of Commerce Foundation, The Glen Avon Foundation, and The Dick Forbort Fund. CULTURE NEWS
- ➤ Disney's Frozen is playing at the NorShor Theatre from Nov 22 through Dec 22—Duluth Playhouse said it is its largest production ever with 36 cast members and 21 performances that bring the magic of the musical to life. WDIO
- ➤ Lee Clark Allen, an English teacher and musician in Duluth, released his album My World is Yours in September (six years in the making) that shares his personal struggles and successes. He will perform at Wussow’s Concert Cafe on Dec. 6 as he reaches out to connect with his local audience. Perfect Duluth Day

- ➤ Bankruptcy filings have risen 10.6% nationwide and Minnesota filings are up 20% from last year, based on U.S. Courts and local data—Walker from Walker & Walker Law Offices said high car loan interest and low wages are pushing more people to file for relief while the process lets debtors keep their homes and cars. - ➤ The new Hillside Public Parking Ramp has opened in downtown Duluth — located across from Essentia Hospital with 327 parking spots on three floors and a secured entry system that requires a code — to ease parking for patients and healthcare workers. WDIO

- ➤ Lakeview Behavioral Health announced Tuesday morning it will close its Virginia office on Dec. 31; clients can receive care at its Hibbing branch or via telehealth+ from other locations. WDIO
SPORTS NEWS
- ➤ Northland ski resorts plan a range of opening dates for the holiday season—Mont Du Lac in Superior is eyeing a late November start, Spirit Mountain in Duluth is readying slopes for mid-December skiing, Chester Bowl in Duluth will open December 13, Lutsen begins early laps on November 28 with full operations starting December 12, Giants Ridge opens November 29 at 9 a.m. with limited areas, and Snowriver will start on Black Friday while Big Powderhorn awaits a confirmed date.
