CRIME NEWS

  • Prison authorities reported that inmate Terrance Wayne Buescher, 60, was found unresponsive around 8:30 a.m. Monday at Duluth Federal Prison Camp where he had served a five-year sentence for meth charges since September 2024—staff initiated life-saving measures and EMS pronounced him dead, with no threat to others.  KSTP

ECONOMY NEWS

  • Adam Lantz, mayor of Chisholm and partner in Minnesota Industries, said his business is at risk because a new MPCA rule requires taconite plants to meet a strict sulfate limit by April 30, 2030. State lawmakers and industry leaders plan to push for site-specific standards so mines can have more time to find safe and affordable solutions—concerns that could impact many jobs and businesses.  BusinessNorth
  • About 1,400 service workers at the University of Minnesota turned down the school’s final offer and are set to strike as the union said work will stop Monday night at Crookston and Morris sites and today in the Twin Cities, Duluth, and nearby areas—union negotiators want a 3.5% raise for both years.  KSTP
