The Lake Superior Marine Museum Association acquired the South Lighthouse at the end of the Canal and now plans to restore it after over 120 years of service.

The museum will open the historic lighthouse for tours as soon as 2027 as it works to remove hazards—pigeon droppings, lead paint, and asbestos—while preserving its local history.

On Sunday, 64 dachshunds raced at Duluth Oktoberfest's Dachshund Derby—repeated champion Ragnar won the race as dog owners Terri Field and Gwen Ritter prepared their dogs with special training and meals.

Hundreds participated in the NorthShore Inline Marathon on Saturday, September 13th, which stretched from Two Harbors to the William A.

Irvin. Nolan Beddiaf won the men's race in 55:22.54 and Laura Alejandra Perdomo Moreno won the women's race in 1:04:49.56.
