The Fog Signal Building at the Two Harbors Lighthouse is still standing. Flames broke out Monday evening, Nov. 2, and community members who spotted them called 911. Nobody was hurt. Fire officials say the blaze started in the breezeway between the building, which is the lighthouse gift shop, and the Skiff House. The cause is under investigation.
Firefighters saved the structure, but the interior took extensive damage, according to the Lake County Historical Society, which owns it. "We are just devastated," board chair Sam Gangi said. Damage estimates aren't known yet.
